Free creative training for science teachers

Creative Partners 4 Progression is offering two full staff development days to teachers. These days are free to anyone who wishes to take part. Each day will be delivered by a different creative education consultant. Both consultants, Mathilda Joubert and Steve Mesure are experts in their chosen fields.

The maximum number of participants for both sessions is 25.

Creative Teaching Staff Development Opportunity

The programme will provide participating teachers with opportunities to:

  • Explore the links and differences between learning processes and creative processes, including making the connections between learning and creativity and developing a common language for creative learning and creativity
  • Promote approaches to teaching and learning that engage and motivate children and demand their active participation
  • Enable teachers to further stimulate and fire the imagination of children in the classroom

Mathilda Joubert
Mathilda will lead on the first day, exploring what creativity is in the classroom and the many shapes and forms it can take. Mathilda Joubert is a Partner in Innovation at Synectics Europe and an experienced facilitator, trainer and researcher in creativity. She is also Research Associate in Psychology at The Open University where she researches collaborative creativity and the social interactions underlying team creativity, both in business and in educational contexts.

Steve Mesure
Despite Steve being a practising Geophysicist, he embarked upon a two-year part-time mime and physical theatre course in London. When thinking of ways to address the serious issue of falling numbers of students taking science on as a subject at school and University - a problem that is still in need of urgent redress - Steve saw the natural step and set up the Floating Point Science Theatre Company.  Steve wrote 15 shows for his company over the course of the coming years covering subjects such as Biodiversity, Material Science and Light.
