The Gap Year
Taking a year out from studying before going to uni is often known as a gap year. Many more people are taking a year out for different reasons and what you do in your gap year is down to you! As well as being a great experience the things that you do in your gap year can give you really useful skills and will look great on your CV or in your UCAS form.
What can I do?
There are many different options for a gap year - from travelling around the world to working to save up some cash to help at uni. Some people choose to do voluntary work while others get paid. Each gap year is different and it should be something that you will enjoy and look back on in years to come. Even working for a year before going to uni can give you some valuable skills that will help you on your course.
Where can I go?
You can go pretty much anywhere you want! It all depends on what you're interested in. Is there somewhere you've always wanted to go or something you've always wanted to do? This is your chance to do it before you have all of the responsibilities that come later on in life!
How much will it cost?
This depends on what you do! You can work your way around australia for six months or travel across Europe of the summer - it all depends on what you're interested in.
How do I do it?
A lot of people organise their own gap year and do all the research, planning and bookings themselves. There are also companies that can help you organise your gap year.
