It's Open to You

It's open to you my child is the name of the specially commissioned film about university and higher education. The film has been produced by Aimhigher Greater Merseyside to look at young people from varying backgrounds who have gone or are going onto higher education.

What's the film about?

There are five sections in this film, each one featuring young people and their families. In the films the young people talk about their hopes and dreams, the benefits of entering enter higher education, and their future career plans. They also talk about the hurdles they've overcome in their lives as students and the support they've received from family, friends and tutors.

These very different, but very ordinary young people provide inspiration and motivation to any young person thinking about entering higher education. All the young people represented have had to overcome difficulties to get to where they wanted to be, but one thing they all have in common is that they believed they could make it and with the help of their families, who have encouraged and supported them they are well on the way to achieving their goals.

The aim of the film is to encourage young people to recognise that they too can take advantage of the many opportunities that exist for them to go on to higher education. be inspired to follow the example of the young people shown and see higher education as a right for all young people regardless of their background and not a privilege for a few.
