Edge Ahead in Health

Wednesday 24th February saw the first of four events on the Edge Ahead in health programme at Edge Hill University.

Pupils taking part in an Aimhigher Healthcare day

Pupils from schools across Merseyside attended a taster day in Biological Sciences. The aim of the day was to give pupils an insight into what a career in a bio scientific department may be like. Pupils took part in a 'mock small pox outbreak' activity where they used the Elisa test to see who was carrying the disease.

The pupils completed the day by looking at DNA and the body's make up using electron microscopes. Many pupils where able to find and view their own DNA!!

Comments from the day:

"The Elisa testing made the students think about careers in health they had not considered before." - Staff

"Brilliant activities and very interesting to get to interact with other people." - Pupil

"I have learnt some new skills and have made some new friends in other schools." - Pupil

Thanks are expressed to everyone who attended and as usual gave 100% to the day.
